It started over a campfire…
& it’s been a life of adventure ever since
Brittany & Mitch met at the end of summer 2016 at a friend’s patio party. After an afternoon full of bbq and fun, the two found themselves lingering around the firepit and bonding over poking the fire with sticks. Not the forward type, Mitch waited until Brittany was literally walking to the car to ask her for her number. He also waited a few weeks before actually doing anything about asking her out.
Their first date was a “choose your own adventure” motorcycle ride around Seattle & Edmonds. As they worked their way north Mitch would ask Brittany at various intersections if they should turn left or right, and away they went. Mitch would later reveal that he actually had a specific route in mind, but managed to lose the road along the way so he started improvising. Fate was on their side, and Brittany’s random turns led them along the road to the Puget Sound Mitch was trying to find!
That first chance meeting and first adventurous date led to a life full of adventures and fortuitous wrong turns. Mitch loves that Brittany is always up for roughing it, and heading out without a plan. Brittany loves that Mitch just made fun of himself writing their “how we met story”! More importantly, Brittany loves that Mitch is both a calm, steadying force and an energetic goofball.
Brittany and Mitch have lived in 5 states together. They’ve traveled internationally and across the United States, including once when they traveled 1500 miles in 24 hours. Together they’ve camped in 15 National Parks, and shared bonfires in countless other forests. They feel most “at home” when they are lost somewhere together.
Mitch has been telling Brittany that he was going to marry her since… 2016. When 2022 rolled around, Brittany knew that the proposal was coming and that it was going to happen on their big cross country trip. The only problem was, she was convinced it would happen at their annual retreat in the alpine waters of the North Cascades. Mitch got a genuine shocked response when he dropped to one knee in Grand Teton National Park.
Celebrating this milestone is a moment they’ve been waiting for. Having you there to cheer them on makes it a moment they’ll never forget.
